What Are the Habits of a Successful Blogger

Running a blog with the topic that you love and have a lot of knowledge of could be a very fun activity not only to fill your spare time, but also to earn some money. But when you are starting a blog from square one, it could be quite hard and frustrating to help your blog grow. But when you are determined to be a successful blogger, you can't give up so easily.

There are so many successful bloggers out there, and it could be intimidating watching their blogs while you are struggling with yours. But there are reasons for their success as bloggers, and instead of being envious of them, you should try to find out how they run their blogs so smoothly. One of the reasons for a blogger's success is the habits, and these are the habits of a successful blogger you should get familiar with.

Set Your Goals

When you want to start your own blog, one of the first things you need to do is setting your goals. This is important since when you don't have goals, you have no direction at all. For example, if you want to make money from your blog, you need to also set the amount you want to earn each month. With that, it will be easier to know what you are going to publish each month to achieve that goal.

But when you just started, of course money is not to be considered yet. As a new blogger, you need to set other easier goals such as you have to publish at least 4 articles per week, or you have to achieve a certain number of followers in the first month.

Make Your Schedule

Another thing that you need to make as your habit is to make your own schedule, daily, weekly and monthly and then follow it strictly. By creating your own regular blogging schedule, you will be able to know what you need to do each day, week or month.

By doing this, sooner or later you will have your own form of consistency and that is extremely important to be a successful blogger. If your followers see your posts as inconsistent both in quality and quantity, they wouldn't turn into your loyal fans.

Monitor Your Formula

Running a blog is not only about making posts and then publishing them. Running a blog is also monitoring which the things you do that are working, and which ones aren't. Knowing to stop is important, when you see that one of the things you usually do is not working, you should try to find another method or another point of view.

You can do this by looking at your Google Analytics. In there, you will be able to see which posts are working and have many readers, and which posts aren't. When a post is working well, try to repeat the concept but with different ideas or topics.

Not only by looking at your Google Analytics, you should also take a look at how your posts are doing in your social media after you share them. Which posts have many impressions such as views, comments or shares, and which post doesn't. Doing this will take time, but it is crucial to know what works and what doesn't to make sure that you are on the right path to be a successful blogger.

Know Your Audience

One of the habits of a successful blogger is to know your audience. This doesn't only mean that you know who they are or what they like, but also learn when they are changing their perspectives or preferences. But if you just want to write the things you like without knowing for sure who will like them, you can learn about your audience later by taking a look at your Google Analytics.

In your Google Analytics account, you can find out a lot of things about your audience. Starting from the demographics, usually the gender of your readers, their interests which will help you to make more posts to please them, and then the geography like where they live and what language they speak. After you learn as much as possible about your audience, now you can make posts in their liking.

Never Stop Learning

One thing to put on your mind when you are blogging is never stop learning. Thinking that you know enough is never the right attitude in a lot of aspects in life, including blogging. If you think that you know enough, you wouldn't want to learn and then you wouldn't be able to grow. To never stop learning, be open to follow other blogs both old or new and see the contents.

Be Original

One of the toxic traits you should avoid when blogging is comparing yourself and your blog to others. When you are comparing yourself to others, you will lose yourself and instead of being you as an authentic and original person, you will slowly try to be someone else.

Learning is different from imitating. You can always learn about other bloggers and their posts, but you should never try to imitate them. Always remember to be as original and authentic as you can be. Whatever you do, don't ever try to be someone you're not.

Know Your Limits

Nowadays it's like there's a new platform or social media every month. While this could help, it could also be overwhelming. In order to stay relevant, you might try to be on every single social media platform but that could backfire. Instead of trying to market you and your blog on every social media platform, you should pick 2 or 3 platforms that are good for you and then stay on them.

Those are the habits of a successful blogger you should apply to your life if you want to be a successful blogger. Remember, starting a blog could be hard and frustrating, so don't give up too easily.
